THE BAD HAIRCUT
This story of Samson is a lesson of Man's strength, Man's trusting spirit, and of Man's fall - all interwoven with the uplifting power of God's strength and 'Just Retribution'.
Mighty Samson - talk about strong hair! I daresay that if Samson lived in Today's World, the leading hair product companies would be as intent as Delilah in getting more than just a few strands of Samson's hair for DNA testing!
Think about the awesome strength that wiped out 1,000 strong men, Samson wielding not a weapon of war, but a mere donkey's jawbone. I have to wonder if this donkey was related to Balaam 's donkey....
From the Tribe of Dan, even before his birth Samson was God's appointed deliver, chosen to reclaim Israel from the Philistines. Samson was a judge*, and of course, endowed by God's amazing strength.
* In Genesis 49:16-18, Jacob who was known henceforth as Israel delivered his famous deathbed blessing as follows:
"Dan shall judge his people, as one of the tribes of Israel. Dan shall be a serpent by the way, an adder in the path, that biteth the horse heels, so that his rider shall fall backward. I have waited for thy salvation, O Lord."
Even the mighty long for love, as did Samson. Delilah is mentioned six times in the book of Judges (as well as in the entirety of the Bible) - six being symbolic of 'Man's number'.
