CHARIOTS OF FIRE
Once upon a time there lived two evil rulers named Ahab and Jezebel. A false god, coupled with a cruel religious following known as Baalism, had saturated and infested the land.
Baal represented 'Satan in the midst' and Baal had many followers.
Baalism was a torturous, evil form of worship. God sent Elijah to combat this evil and gave his prophet commanding powers - from raising the dead to sealing the heavens.
When Elijah's work was done, he entered the heavens in a miraculous way - driven by a fiery chariot up into the sky:
II Kings 2:11 And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.
We are bombarded by evil every day of our life. At times, it may seem that evil is unconquerable. We may wonder why, as a Christian, we seem to always be tested by God. We may feel that our plates have a bit too much on them at times.
During these troubling times, count it a blessing that you have been found worthy in God's eyes to withstand such tests and tribulations. Tribulation sharpens our patience. Blessings will come from the same God that drove Elijah's fiery chariot into the heavens.
