LEND A CHRISTIAN EAR
It's easy to talk; it provides an avenue of expression in our lives. But listening isn't such an easy thing to do. And on those occasions when we do listen, we generally try to offer advice or counsel based on our own experiences in life. Sometimes, we just need to listen.
Have you ever noticed that whenever you have a burden in life, that when you share that burden with someone else, your burden doesn't seem so heavy?
Has a friend or family member ever confided in you, seeking shelter from their problem? If so, were you able to contain the secret? Most people can't. As soon as they have a secret, they want to let someone else know that they have a secret. Before long, they're sharing their secret because they just can't keep the secret a secret.
If you get the opportunity to help a Christian friend who is in need of a good ear, try to simply listen to them talk. More often than not, any advice won't be used. People have a way of solving things on their own, but there are those times, when they just need a listening ear. And keep the secret a secret. God knows, and that should be enough.
