BIBLE STORIES ABOUT HOPE
When I was a very young woman, my mother made me a chest to place at the foot of my bed. She called it a Hope Chest. We would spend the next three years of our lives putting special things into the Hope Chest that I would make use of when it came time to leave home.
We didn't have a great deal of money, but that chest held some very nice cheap treasures. And the older that I got, the prouder I was of my stash.
Leaving home didn't seem so ominous now; there wouldn't be so much to buy, and the blankets, the dishes, the set of pots and stainless steel would come in very handy.
The Bible provides so many great stories of hope for we Christians. Many times, miracles were performed in these stories of hope. When it looked like the sun wouldn't shine, God put a rainbow in the sky.
When it looked like the Children of Israel were at the end of the road, God's finger ski-danced that Old Red Sea and the Christians walked to the other side, dry shod - meaning the ground beneath was dry and perhaps a bit dusty. A miracle indeed considering that even a small rain requires several days before the ground is totally dry.
Whenever you find that you're feeling a bit down, open up God's Hope Chest of articles and indulge in a few. It ain’t over until it's over. And even when things look their worst, God can still save the day.
