CHRISTIANS & STRESS
I have two situations for you to ponder; see how your stress level holds up!
Situation 1
The alarm rings and you hop out of bed, fly to the shower, gulp down a cup of double-stuff coffee, yank the kids out of bed, hustle to dress them and yourself while the cereal on the table wilts in milk, and then you bolt out of the door, into 8 AM traffic, ready (and unwilling) to start your day.
Situation 2
It's a lazy Saturday morning and you awake with sunlight streaming across your face and the sound of birds singing in the distance. The scent of fresh brewed coffee penetrates the air accompanied with a hint of the cinnamon rolls that your spouse is baking in the kitchen. That man can cook! You reach for your pink, fuzzy housecoat and slowly amble to the bathroom.
After a lingering bubblebath, you arrive to the kitchen just as your spouse is pulling the cinnamon rolls from the oven. He pours your coffee, then suggests that you join him on the patio so that you can watch the birds over morning coffee and hot cinnamon roll.
Summary
Stress is almost everywhere we turn these days. We seem to ALWAYS have something to worry about doing, about saying, about going, about being, about not being and so forth. Stress is a killer, a slow and silent killer.
To combat stress, slow down, pray often and don't sweat the small stuff. Oh, and listen to the birds sing every now and then!
