Happy
Holidays
There
are individuals who have decried the birth
of our Savior and the special days
set aside to honor His coming, yet their
disdain appears to have no issue in using
these special days to put a gold lining
in their pockets. Amazing, isn't it?
It's
frustrating to Christians. After all, the
holidays belong to us - not to the unbelievers
and particularly not to retailers seeking
to line their coffers in the name of Christ.
But
much like the retailers and businesses,
we Christians often misplace the reason
for the season, so who are we to judge? Although
there isn't much we can do to alter the
gilding of Christmas, we can concentrate
our thoughts close to home and make the
most of these special days - days that we
hope to share with friends and family to
create memories that last a lifetime.
Although
Christmas Day marks the celebration and
remembrance of our Lord coming into the world
to redeem our sin-sick souls,
the holidays also embark upon a journey to the
heart, filling us with love and caring for
our fellow man.
That spark lights the joy
within as we show others around us just
how much we love them. Sometimes, we show
them 'too much' how we love them and we
often don't find out just how deep that
love was until after the New Year when
the bills roll in.
Gifts
generate a magic all of their own but there
is a particular source of magic that lives
within just waiting for us to pull it out
and play with it. A magic moment may be
as simple as telling a friend or relative
just how much they mean to you or as complicated
as baking a basket of goodies for a shut-in.
Whatever
you do during these special holidays, make
them happy - make them special and sweep
the thought of stress from your thoughts.
In fact, stress is simply not allowed into
your holiday season!
If you
would like some suggestions to brighten
your holiday without the expense, you may
enjoy these.
