The
Milk of Human Kindness
Have
you ever reflected on your past and
only miserable moments flash into your thoughts?
Although there may have been many precious,
wonderful moments the bad times can overpower
the good times if we allow them to.
Even
the most privileged of us have troubles.
It may be as simple as worrying about what
to wear to a posh party or as stressful
as worrying about holding onto their fortune
- but even the privileged still have their
troubles.
So why
OR how could anyone with such little worries
reflect negatively on their past, particularly
when they are sitting there with a silver
spoon welded between their teeth?
No matter
if we are fortunate or misfortunate, reflecting
negatively on our past can revert into a
habit. So quickly we forget those special
times like cracking pecans with our dad
on a fall day in the backyard, or planting
a summer garden, or simply running and playing
a game of ball together.
Magic
moments, such as receiving a special inexpensive
gift on the holiday is soon forgotten, entwined
inside the bitter memories of our past.
So often the Milk of Human Kindness trickles
onto the ground and dries up in a lost vapor
rather than being bottled and tucked away
in a safe spot so that it can be cherished
and savored over time. And it's so much
tastier than the bitter gall of man.
Often
times we blame others for our failures -
we blame our parents, our siblings, our
relatives, our friends, and sometimes we
may even blame God, particularly when tragedy
strikes. And all the while, Satan is standing
in the shadows laughing his dirty socks
off at our misery as we make things even
more miserable by blaming others when the
majority of the time, a situation or crisis
is no one's fault.
So the
next time that you experience a reflective
moment and only bad memories fill your
thoughts, don't allow Satan to steal those
special moments of your past from you by
placing the focus on those negative experiences.
As we mentioned above, everyone whether
rich or poor has memories of negative experiences.
Instead, embrace the good things from your
past and drink freely from the Milk of Human
Kindness.
