God in My Pocket With a Pocket Full of Money

Although many Christians in Today's World staunchly believe that by serving God they will receive worldly riches, the Living God blesses and rewards us in unfathomable ways that cannot compare with money.

Having money is a necessity of life for it supplies our needs. However, there is a huge difference when it comes to 'needs' and 'wants'. God never promised to fulfill our wants on earth, although many times in the Bible He rained down buckets of blessings on his saints.

But to expect God to reward us in the form of money undermines that well of compassion, strength and love that exists in the Faith of the Living God.

It's important to keep in mind the widow who only gave a mite, but her mite was all that she had. The widow gave all.

As humans, we often imagine how God must view things. Many see God judging one's strength, compassion and level of love on the basis of money.

However, to God the size of a rich man's pocketbook is equal to the size of a poor man's pocketbook. One might say, "If a rich man/woman gave all, then they would be sacrificing much more than a poor man/woman."  But God does not judge the size of one's pocketbook, rather the size of one's heart.

Keeping this in mind, aren't you glad that we can't carry our money to heaven with us? That we don't have to worry about paying God for a place to stay? We may have mansions and poor houses on earth, but heaven will present a much different picture.

The Bible says that Man's days on earth are short and that Man should not long for the things of this world. It doesn't mean that God wants us to be poor - quite the opposite.

But to expect God to bless us financially in exchange for serving Him is a rather distorted way of looking at things. Whether we are poor, rich or in between, we must serve God because we want to - not in exchange for things of this world.
