Inexpensive
Holiday Gifts From the Heart
If you're throwing a holiday party,
rather than cooking until you drop ask the
guests to bring a covered dish. In addition,
ask them to bring a copy of a baby photo
of him/herself and later at the party,
see if everyone can guess which baby photo
belongs to 'who'.
If you have a cool picture of a friend
or relative, put it in an inexpensive frame
as a gift. Just like a child would rather
play with a cardboard box than an expensive
toy, adults secretly enjoy looking at pictures
of themselves rather than an expensive gift.
Bake a little magic and situate it
inside a pretty basket as a thoughtful gift.
Don't forget a ribbon!
A homemade paperweight can be made
quickly and inexpensively with a sealable
glass jar. Simply epoxy an inexpensive waterproof
knickknack to the bottom of the lid and
allow to dry. Next, fill the glass jar with distilled
water and glitter and screw on the lid.
Decorate the bottom of the lid to finish
out this beautiful, thoughtful holiday gift.
Stitch up some bean bags. Ultra cheap
and so many options! Simply cut out two
squares, then turn fabric inside-out. Stitch
up three sides, and flip fabric so that
the pattern is visible. Next, fill the pouch
with dried beans
or peas, then stitch up the end seam.
Other quick-to-make crafts that make
terrific gifts include: pot holders, aprons,
placemats and napkins.
Create homemade potpourri by collecting
gifts from Mother Nature such as pine cones,
twigs and dried flowers. Simply add a few
drops of scented oil.
For a sibling or childhood friend,
turn back the pages of your memory
to remember something special that they
enjoyed.
For
example, my brother adored Chick-O-Sticks
when he was a small boy. This Christmas,
we bought him a small container of Gorilla
Glue and 'wrapped' the candy sticks around
the box rather than using wrapping paper.
Cool - and he can even eat the 'paper'.
