"I am the vine and ye are the branches; He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit; for without me, ye can do nothing." ~ St. John 15:5Olive Oil, Foods in the Bible - Biblical Foods
There is an incorrect assumption from many dieters that fat in the daily diet is bad....that fat is worse than the devil on a Saturday night spree. Fact is, we need fat in the diet to survive. Without fat, our bodies would slowly die. The key is to limit fat consumption. Olive oil is one of the best oils on the market today and can even reduce bad cholesterol. It may also help control glucose levels, as well as lower blood pressure. Your best choice is extra-virgin olive oil which is basically the first press from the olives. Add to salads, and pasta dishes. French bread dipped in a bit of olive oil and thick cracked black pepper (a popular feast at many Italian restaurants) is also quite tasty and health-wise when portions are controlled.
