What is Diet Faith?
Living by Faith
We have faith that when we die, we'll go to
heaven. We haven't seen heaven, yet we have faith that it
exists. The same applies to Diet Faith. We have faith in our
diet plan, that we'll lose weight. We haven't seen the end results
of our diet - what we'll look like at the end of our diet, or what
we'll feel like at the end of our diet - but we
have faith that we'll get there!
When our diet fails, is it because we lose
faith in our plan? Absolutely not! The diet most likely failed
due to extemporary circumstances - things that popped up unexpectedly
and uprooted the diet plan. For example, whenever you go shopping
and you park your car in the parking lot, when you get through shopping,
you have faith that your car will be where you left it.
But, if someone asked you, "Are you 100%
sure that your car will be where you left it when you get finished
shopping?"
Your answer would have to be, "Not 100%."
You certainly have faith that your car will
be there, but due to robberies, acts of nature and so forth, you
simply can't be 100% certain.
When you first begin your diet, you're certain
that you're going to, 'Lose all the unwanted weight THIS time!'
You're doing swell, following your plan to a tee, then something
happens, like being short on time (i.e. Diet Robbery) thus making it
difficult to eat healthy.
Since there are many dieters that achieve
success in
their weight loss plan, what have they got that you don't? Could
it be this?
Planning for the unexpected. So as you're forming your weight loss plan,
think about all the possible pitfalls that you might encounter.
Think of ways to handle these type situations so that you can achieve
your weight loss goals. By planning for the unexpected, you
may find it much easier to get there.
Think of your diet plan as a service to
your body - just as you do service to God. For example, let's say
that Sunday is tomorrow and right when the service begins, your
brother calls - the one that you haven't spoken with in 15 years.
Keep in mind that you've planned all week
to attend church. At this point, you can do several things
(cell phone/call him back later). You will find a way to both go
to church and visit with your brother.
When dieting, the brother above may be
chocolate chip cookies. On one hand, you've planned your diet
well, and you have every intention of sticking to your diet plan.
But you find yourself wanting those cookies so strongly! At
this point, rather than give completely in, think things through.
There is a way to have both! Enjoy a cookie or two, then be
done with them.

Weight Loss Tip

|
If
you are trying to lose weight, you can calculate how long
it will take to lose 'x pounds' by dividing 2 into the number of pounds you want
to lose. |
For example, if Dieter Jan wants to lose 24 pounds,
it's going to take her about 12 weeks to reach her weight loss
goal.

Weight Loss Motivators
While trying to lose weight, make a short list of things that
you will use as rewards once you reach a certain weight
loss amount, or a certain date. Just like God
rewards us, we should also reward ourselves because
giving doesn't always mean sacrifice.
- A new outfit in a smaller size.
- Enjoy a celebration dinner with a loved one.
- A day at a spa just for pampering.
